Creating magic is the purpose of Calgary based Moms Making It Happen's 3rd annual fundraiser in support of the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST).
In Calgary we simply turn on the tap and like magic we have clean, healthy water, as much as we need or want. More than 1.1 billion people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water or sanitation facilities. The result is over 4,900 people a day who die from preventable, waterborne illnesses. That would be like one day having everyone in Tuxedo die, then the next day everyone in Cougar Ridge die and the next day, everyone in Mount Pleasant die and so on. And then, imagine that most of those people are children under the age of 5.
Together with Calgary based CAWST, a group of Calgary moms are working to change that reality for families in refugee camps in Sudan and in the recently flooded Bangladesh.
